Arabic is a Semitic language, despite the lack of evidence, it's widely believed that Arabic is related to Sumerian, which is the oldest written language in history that originated in Mesopotamia more than 10 thousand years BC.

Sumerian then went through thousands of years of refinement gradually producing all Semitic languages including Phoenician, Akkadian, Assyrian, Aramaic (the language of Jesus Christ PBUH, that is still spoken in parts of Syria until today), Hebrew and many more until Arabic was eventually born, Arabic is the latest and last Semitic language.
